Plantar Fasciitis Symptoms
Plantar fasciitis is an internal injury, so there may not be any external signs of trouble. While you may not be able to see this condition, you’ll certainly be able to feel it. You’ll feel a sharp, stabbing pain in the bottom of your foot that spreads to its back. While the pain is excruciating for the first while, it usually wanes as you go throughout your day.
All of these problems can result in severe pain. Foot and ankle pain can increase irritability and cause patients to feel overly tired. Overall, these problems interfere with the ability to perform daily tasks.
What Causes Plantar Fasciitis?
The exact causes aren’t known. However, it’s most commonly seen in runners and overweight individuals. This indicates that overuse, not stretching properly, and excessive pressure on your feet cause plantar fasciitis.
Treatment for Plantar Fasciitis
Initial treatments include icing the affected area, stretching, physical therapy-guided exercise, and anti-inflammatory medications. Physical therapy can be prescribed by one of the orthopedic physicians at Ortho of KC, either as a separate treatment or in conjunction with restorative surgery. Physical therapy can help ease the painful symptoms of plantar fasciitis and start to repair the damaged tissue.
However, if all other forms of treatment fail and surgery is necessary, surgeons and orthopedists at Ortho of KC can help. Whether you require steroid or plasma injections, shock wave therapy, or surgery to detach the plantar fascia from the heel bone, we’re here to help! We always opt for less invasive measures first but are more than capable of performing plantar fasciitis surgery when needed.
