Innovations in Total joint Replacements

Not only are surgical robotics a real thing, but a tool utilized at OHKC. Dr. JohnEggers, M.D., Ph.D., is one of the total joint surgeons at OHKC who is now using MakoSmartRobotics™ while performing total knee and other total joint replacements. ThisTotal Knee System, which was created by Stryker, has advanced robotic technology giving the surgeon a more predictable way to operate.
According to the Stryker website, the tool starts by creating a 3D rendering of the patient’sCT scan. This gives the surgeon a hands-on view of the patient’s anatomy. The surgeon is then able to create and plan the best approach for each surgery. One additional advantage that Stryker lists of using Mako SmartRobotics™ is the possibility of preserving more tissue on certain patients due to the planning now available before surgery.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1613624118519{margin-top: 25px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Stryker goes on to report that their MakoSystem is the first and only SmartRobotics™System that can be used across the joint replacement service line to perform total knee, total hip, and partial knee replacements.
